Beverly Hawes

Keyboards, Lead and Background Vocals.

Photo of Beverly HawesBeverly started playing the piano at age 6, began voice lessons at the age of 13, and has been making music ever since.  Performing in musicals, various commercial bands and a few praise teams over the years has provided a broad range of types of experience.  Although each experience provided a wealth of input and exposure to the world of music, none piqued her interest like the possibility of playing in a gospel rock band.  It seemed to be the best of all worlds with emphasis on using her talents to glorify God.  She and Bill set out to pray for divine guidance and found that this was exactly the type of music that literally answered all their prayers.  God had spoken.

A native of the Birmingham, Alabama, Beverly came to the Atlanta area while still in elementary school.  Becoming active in high school musicals and associated high school choral events put her into high gear, wanting to take on as much performance-based activity as possible.  From photographic work in conjunction with the local charm/fashion/modeling school during the high school and college years, to tap and jazz classes at one of the local dance studios, to singing and playing in local rock bands, performing  has always been a passion.   Beverly’s hope is that the things she does with HSM will edify God and bring to those who need to hear, the words of His salvation.

Beverly attends Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock, Georgia, and currently serves on the Visual Design Team.  She is also an Executive Board member of the Kennesaw State University, College of Theater and Performance Studies - Dance Company Advisory Group.  Her wonderful family is an inspiration and offers constant support and reinforcement to her.

Bill Hawes

Guitar, Lead and Background Vocals

Photo of Bill HawesBill has 9 years of formal music training, and has played music professionally for most of his adult life.  Growing up in the south, he quickly developed roots in southern rock.  With his first all original effort, The Notorious What Brothers Band, he performed live in opening slots for headliners such as The Allman Brothers Band, Mother’s Finest, Spirit, and the James Gang.  Changing with the times, Bill then formed Metro Music, a successful commercial venture for the corporate and wedding scene.  During this time, God was planting seeds in Bill’s mind that he should change his music direction and begin playing music for Him.

In 2004, God’s message was so strong that Bill reformed the then Metro Music band and created what is now HSM.  Through the words, music, and personal testimonies that God has given the members of HSM, it is Bill’s prayer that the glory of God will be exalted, and the Good News of His Son Jesus Christ will be spread and accepted by those wandering in the dark. Bill is married, has 2 daughters, 1 son-in-law, and two grandsons.  He currently attends Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock, Georgia, and serves on their Praise Team along with numerous other church functions.

John MacCullen

Guitar and Background Vocals

Photo of John MacCullenJohn first picked up a guitar over 30 years ago, and thus began what would become a lifelong love of music.  He has played in several bands as well as having acted and sung in numerous stage and theatrical productions during high school and at Northwest Church in Acworth, Georgia.  In addition to HSM, John sings and alternates between acoustic guitar and bass guitar with the praise and worship band Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings at Northwest Church.

A native of the Atlanta area, John graduated from Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia and has an Associate of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Antioch Baptist Bible College.  John is married to his soul mate Becky, and has two sons, Chris and Justin.

Mark Honeycutt

Percussion and Background Vocals

Photo of Mark HoneycuttMark has been playing drums for over 25 years beginning with a concert snare in elementary band and then with a marching snare for three years in high school band.  Although Mark made a change from marching band to football in the ninth grade, his love for music and playing never wavered.  Mark has played in various garage bands over the years but his most rewarding has been playing in church and with HSM.  As a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia, Mark plays drums during worship and is also a member of the choir.

Originally from Locust Fork, Alabama, Mark moved to Cartersville after graduating from Auburn University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  Shortly after moving to Georgia in 1995, Mark met his future wife Melissa, being introduced by neighbors who remain their best friends today.  In 2005, God blessed Mark and Melissa with their son Aigars, who at the age of 8 they adopted from Latvia.  On April 29, 2010 after trying for 10 years God blessed them once again with the birth of their son Avery James.  It is all in God’s perfect timing.

God is great and gets all the glory!

Rob Reeves

Bass Guitar and Background Vocals

Photo of Rob ReevesRob started playing bass guitar in high school and has been actively playing in rock and roll bands around the southeast and the Atlanta area for over 30 years.  Several years ago, at the urging of Bill Hawes, Rob switched to playing Christian music.  Since then, he has been playing in the praise band and singing in the choir at his home church, Kennesaw United Methodist, in addition to his playing in HSM.

Although born in Philadelphia, Rob has lived in the south most of his life.  Growing up in Marietta, Georgia, Rob and his wife of 35 years Sherran now reside in Kennesaw, Georgia.  Rob and Sherran have two grown sons, Lane and Tyler, who both live in the Kennesaw area.

Rob credits both playing with HSM as well as with his church praise band as a significant part of his walk of faith.  God is good all the time!
